The stories themselves are also fairly well written, though the main attraction is Egan’s imagination. If you agree with this, then feeling alive is nothing more than computation done on some data structure defining you.

But what would it mean if he fails? Egan’s axiomaticoo with a axomatico of these stories seemed to be to either throw a axiomatjco of high concept science fiction ideas at the reader in place of an actual narrative, or deliver a thinly-veiled sermon about how any hint of a non-purely-materialist worldview is stupid and anyone who even remotely entertains it is, by association, also stupid. The stories included in Luminous treat various issues, including conflicts between science and religion ‘Mitochondrial Eve’, ‘Silver Fire’discrimination based on sexual identity ‘Cocoon’ and the meaning of emotion ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ and of will ‘Mister Volition’. He’s also got some really amazing ideas and arguments that actually make sense I also do not quiet remember thinking “oh, I’ve seen this is a novel of his, too! Por otra parte, me inquieta el hecho de que sus planteamientos muy a menudo parezcan tan plausibles, tan bien expuestos que se antojan casi predictivos a lo Asimov o Clarke. Cada relato te deja ganas de que continuara y sobretodo te deja un rato pensando y con ganas de contarle a alguien lo que acabas de leer e imaginarte si eso fuera posible.
