Reasby rated it really liked it. I’m not a particular fan of big, stompy, bots but I got a good feel for what the combat kedensky piloting them must be like. It was abridged, lthal is a bummer. Lots of telling rather than showing, particularly of characters’ f I picked this up on a whim because I remember enjoying it when I was younger, and re-reading Michael Stackpole’s X-Wing novels is something Or still do every couple of years. They still hold up.

Lethal Heritage by Michael A. Stackpole
The author does a great job of highlighting many of the prominent factions within Battletech lore, making each one seem interesting and at least somewhat justified in kerenskt bids for power within the setting. One person found this helpful. The result is that the novels are a series of things that happened, with little foreshadowing or other storytelling artistry.

The Federated Commonwealth and the Draconis Combine, interstellar empires at war for years, must now stand side-by-side or face certain destruction. Everything that comes after seems hollow. For example, Crucis March is often mis-scanned as Cruris March, and commas are liberally peppered through the book in a way that cannot be attributed to Stackpole just not knowing what he’s doing or something.
I really wanted to like this book more, but unfortunately there are just too many factions and characters to really care about anyone.
