The vast knowledge of the author has been purified and refined: Product details Format Paperback pages Dimensions x x The Sobolev spaces occur in a wide range of questions, both in pure and applied mathematics, appearing in linear and nonlinear PDEs which arise, for example, in andd geometry, harmonic analysis, engineering, mechanics, physics etc.
His proofs are designed so they extend with minor conceptual modifications to non-linear situations, namely nonlinear groups generated by maximal monotone operators. Review From the reviews: I recommand it to each student who intend to undersand convex analysis and its analtsis to theory of partial differential equation. While this book is addressed to newcomers to the subject, it requires a bit of mathematical maturity and some background in measure theory and integration. Those circulated for a long time as notes anxlysis only to the Parisian students of Professor Brezis.
