EAST by Edith Pattou | Kirkus Reviews
Niamh and the Hermit ediht Emily C. Why the bloody heck did she not have her own POV? Just call the stupid baby Tuki. The bear’s character was rather weak and the alternating POV was not utilized to the book’s advantage as much as it could have been, as far as the bear was concerned.
As result, the book primarily follows two threads; one involves Rose and Charles, who does not remember the past one hundred years and subsequently his life with Rose. So I’m conflicted about this book. Mar 10, Sami rated it really liked it Shelves: The two plots don’t really converge, and while I was glad to know that Neddy was chasing Rose across the world again, there wasn’t really a need to show him always being one step behind.
I’m grateful for pattou attempt to bring Neddy and the rest of Rose’s family into a greater part of the story, but it draws the focus away from Rose and her struggles and her plotline which should be the core of the book. But the Troll Queen is not dead and seeks a horrifying revenge. East though it will always be North Child to me is one of my most favourite books. In this one, people just randomly comment on how editb her eyes are because reasons. I know this was supposed to be edgy but by God it misses the mark.
In some ways it was worse than if he were dead, Here but not here.
But Edith gave the two characters time to grow together. I honestly felt a little sorry for Rose for the constant stream of challenges thrown her way and yet she never, ever gives up.
Lists with This Book. I think this story would have been much more powerful if Pattou had delved into Rose’s heartbreak and grief over what happened to Charles.
I received a free copy of this book through the publisher and Netgalley. If only we could have all been in a middle school book club together. Of course, this comes to pass as Charles and Rose make their way to her family’s home.
But in trying to make Rose extra strong, her character, only 3 years later chronologically even if this book is written so long after the original is almost nonexistent besides her brave characteristics. It takes a bit of patience to get into her books, but it’s well worth the time. The heroine, Rose, is just perfect and I could not get enough of her doings, I can honestly say she made me smile and even laugh out loud in pretty much every chapter.
This guy needs so much rescuing that at one point a magical being with very little connection to him has to turn him back into a polar bear so he doesn’t freaking drown. This long awaited sequel is a wonderful read though not as good as the first. I’ve been wanting to read this book for quite some time, but it just didn’t work for me: She rotated these characters so you really got to “know” them.
This is Rose’s story but once again we are treated to multiple viewpoints my secondary favorite is Neddy!
The writing in East is just plain beautiful and, truthfully, for me it was mind-blowing. Even if you are not a fan of YA fantasy fiction, this story will charm you. No, not joking, I’m serious; he forgets her early on and doesn’t remember her until like the second to last chapter.
That’s right, the beloved sister whose life was so important in East which was eeast Rose had to go away with the White Bear in the first dang place dies of a sweating sickness three years later and it’s over in a manner of a few pages. May 04, Clara Biesel rated it it was amazing Shelves: I’m so excited to have gotten to read it.
East Book Summary and Study Guide
Its lengthiness could discourage reluctant readers while its fundamental weaknesses may irritate stronger readers. It is alright to describe some items that have significance to the story, but edih describe every other item that has nothing to do with the main point of the story does become tiresome really fast.
