Apparently, presidents with background in arts do really good job at fuelling aggregate demand – so that there’s enough even for such “armchair philosophers”. The second half of the book is somewhat better, and describes problems common to all of the social sciences although Economics seems to be unique in the extent that it ignores them: He calls for more ethics and more epistemological humility in his field, and what a welcome call it is.

I agree with the NYT reviewer that the author’s conclusions are not supported well, but the role of notions of good and bad in economics were interesting.
