This game was pure starship combat and arguably more fun than any of the video games of the time. Press enter to begin your search. I was always more partial to Star Fleet Battles, but even by todays standards the models for both games were really well done with each race having unique characteristics that tied the entire fleet together.
Star Trek video games did exist, but were not accessible to most. It was a board wargameset in the Star Trek simultaor, utilizing ten-sided dice and counters to simulate tactical combat. Th FASA combat simulator is still agreat game. The second incarnation was the rules specific board game for the Second Edition Rules of the Role Playing game which dealt with larger fleet overview and more personalized ship combat rules.
