Over the past few years, Crewdson’s productions have become increasingly ambitious; his photographs sometimes require dozens of assistants and technicians, large format cameras, an array of lights, make-up and wardrobe, as well as computerised post-production.
The lighting in this book is incredible! Perhaps less of one if a photographer captures spontaneous reality, more than one if a photographer just takes pictures. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Suburban surreal shot in the half-light.
When he was a graduate art student in the mids, the photographer says he was struck by Lynch’s masterpiece, Blue Velvet. I’m so jealous I didn’t come up with these photographs. But the artist says he was more interested in his father than in analysis itself. These eerie and evocative photographs ggregory beauty with horror, obsession with disgust, and the tailight with the surreal, suggesting narratives open to endless interpretations.
