This section is based on the products of International Protective Coatings, which is located at:. Severe Atmosphere Application – Industrial areas with high humidity and aggressive environments. Equipment and application procedures must conform to the coating manufacturer’s application instructions. Submit manufacturer documentation that the fireproofing product complies with the specified contract requirements. The application must be witnessed by the Architect’s or Owner’s representative and is subject to their approval.
Coordinate with Section and Contract Drawings for all Moderate Atmosphere areas of the project. Regional Materials- 20 percent extracted, processed and manufactured regionally: High Performance coatings applied in the field with Company specializing in manufacturing products listed in this section with a minimum of ten 10 years documented experience.
Pipes, ducts, conduits, hangers and supports, equipment, and equipment enclosures exposed to view in all rooms and spaces. Steel substrate temperature shall be a minimum of 5 deg F 3 deg C above the dew point of the surrounding air for a period of 24 hours prior and during the application of the material. Submit manufacturer’s written installation instructions. Sequence and coordinate application of coatings with Work in other sections which would interfere with efficient protective coating application.
Provide masking, drop cloths or other suitable coverings to prevent overspray onto surfaces not intended to be affected by Work in this section.
Apply material at the required dry film thickness. Commencement of application is acceptance of substrate. Where necessary, cleaning or other corrections of the surfaces to receive coatings are the responsibility of the installer interxinc the incompatible substrate. No coating material may be procured or delivered to the project site prior to the review and acceptance of the proposed materials by the Architect in writing.

Moderate Atmosphere Applications – Industrial and coastal areas. Do not commence adjacent or adjoining Work until the application of the coatings is complete in that area. Interior environments with permanent condensation and pollution. Clean substrate free of dust, dirt, grease or other foreign substances that would impair the bond of interzincc coating. The Manufacturer’s quality management system must be assessed and registered by an independent registrar as conforming to the requirements of ISO Low Atmosphere or Interior Applications – Rural area, low pollution, dry environments. Do not apply coatings under environmental conditions outside manufacturer’s absolute limits.
Grind smooth all weld spatter and defects prior to commencement of coating application. Intfrzinc specializing in applying the work of this section with a minimum of three 3 years documented experience and certified by the manufacturer. Submit product data including manufacturer’s technical information indicating product performance characteristics, performance and limitation criteria.
Submit applicators current certification as a manufacturer trained and approved applicator. To be selected by Architect from manufacturer’s full range of available colors.
Protect adjacent areas from over spray of coating material. Information must demonstrate equivalence of product and performance to the specified material and complete systems. The relative humidity of the application area shall not exceed a maximum of 85 percent for 24 hours prior, during and 24 hours after the application of the material.
Substrate and air temperature shall be in accordance with the manufacturers requirements. Surfaces Not to be Painted: Structural steel and framing with reference to primer receiving fire protection materials.

Apply approved primer to properly cleaned substrate in accordance with manufacturer’s application instructions. Do not intterzinc with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
At project closeout, provide to Owner or Owners Representative an executed copy of the manufacturer’s standard limited warranty against manufacturing defect, outlining its terms, conditions, and exclusions from coverage. Pipes, ducts, conduits, hangers and supports, equipment, and 351 enclosures exposed to view in all rooms and spaces except mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, and utility rooms. All surfaces to receive coatings must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease, loose mill scale, dirt, dust or other foreign substances which innterzinc impair bond of the material to the substrate.
Provide primer cut back areas a minimum three 3 inches 76mm from bolted connections and minimum twelve 12 inches mm from welded connections. Apply finish coat in accordance with the manufacturer’s application instructions. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. Primer applied off site must be in accordance interxinc the provisions of Section Moderate sulpher diuoxide levels.
